Project Description
In August 2007, Bouygues UK signed the £110m PFI contract with the North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust to design and build the new hospital development, and provide hard facilities management services for the next 30 years. The new hospital building is due to open in Summer 2010.
The Bouygues The development of The new building, which has a construction cost of £111 million, will be completed and fully operational by 2010. Landscaping, road improvements and other work outside the main building will be completed in 2011. The new building will provide: • An Emergency Care Centre , including adult and children's Accident and Emergency (majors and minors and a children's assessment unit), Emergency Imaging (x-ray, CT and MRI scanning) and an Emergency Assessment and Admissions Unit, equipped with 48 beds for 0 – 2 day short stay treatment. • An Acute and Critical Care Centre , incorporating 4 main theatres and supporting facilities and a Critical Care Unit with 12 beds and 90 inpatient surgical beds for acute care. • A Diagnostic and Treatment Centre , incorporating Day Theatres, an Endoscopy Suite and a Planned Imaging Unit (x-ray), as well as an Outpatient Department with a new Children's Outpatients suite and children's Medical Assessment Unit. The hospital will have a purpose-designed main entrance for the first time and a further entrance on the East side, both served by public transport, with three bus services routed through the hospital grounds. There will be a range of retail outlets for patients, staff and visitors and restaurant facilities will be provided in the present This will create a single hospital environment with clinical facilities centred on patients' needs. There will be interlinked internal corridors between the new and existing buildings, which will improve the internal circulation for patients, and staff.
